Description
The Peltz Center for Jewish Life (CFJL) is proud to present a truly unique and uplifting experience with "This World is a Garden," a mesmerizing fusion of art, music, and storytelling.
"This World is a Garden" brings to life a three-hundred-year-old vision: to see the world through divine eyes—as G-d's garden. This one-of-a-kind performance tells the soul-stirring story of a Chassidic farmer, steadfastly tending to his cherished patch of earth across time. His journey of hope, perseverance, and spiritual connection unfolds through seven captivating short films, each illustrating a key theme from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schenorsohn’s first Chasidic Discourse (a spiritual teaching rooted in Jewish mysticism)—a profound vision of the world as a sacred garden.
The production seamlessly integrates evocative imagery and a live performance by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra String Quartet. Each film is paired with a live Chabad Niggun (chassidic melody) representing one of the seven Rebbes of the Chabad dynasty. These Niggunim (chassidic melodies) resonate with deep spiritual meaning, bringing centuries of Chasidic tradition into a modern, emotional experience.
Rabbi Dov Lisker of the Mequon Torah Center, the adult education branch of CFJL, expressed his excitement for the event: “These Chasidic melodies are like no other. They tell a soul-stirring story about life’s purpose and what truly matters in this world. I look forward to sharing these transformative teachings with residents of Mequon, Thiensville, Cedarburg, and Grafton.”
“This World is a Garden is more than a performance; it is an invitation to witness the beauty and meaning inherent in life, as seen through the lens of Chasidic wisdom. The combination of visual artistry, powerful storytelling, and inspiring music will touch the heartstrings of every audience member, offering a deeper understanding of the world and our place within it.”
