The 5th Annual Autumn at the Village fall festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 6th at Ozaukee County Pioneer Village in Saukville. Enjoy a great day in the country that is fun for the whole family. Learn about local rural history by touring the living history museum and collection of structures from the mid-1800s to the early 1900s.
Historic demonstrations will include carpentry, blacksmithing, wood cutting, basket making, making straw bales, apple pressing, candle making, spinning, corn shelling, embroidery and pump organ. Poul and Linda Sanderson from the bluegrass band, Pickin' Up Speed will demonstrate old time instruments and play a few tunes. Children’s make-it and take- it activities will include, rope making, making corn-husk dolls, wooden puzzle making, weaving and more. Flea Market and $5 Bag Sale, everything must go, so there are deals to be had.
Everyone can take part in a 15-minute wagon ride, compliments of the Wisconsin Antique Power Reunion, through Hawthorne Hills Park. Pumpkins, squash, gourds, apples and hand-made brooms will be available for sale.
Visitors can relax and enjoy a warm bowl of homemade chili with cornbread or chicken with dumpling soup. Some of the other fall foods that will be served are hot cider, pumpkin pie, apple pie, German Kuchen or Pumpkin or Apple ice cream.
Admission is $4 Adults and $3 Children 6 and older. Children 5 and under and OCHS members are free.
